Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Clarity ("we", "us"), operated by [YOUR LEGAL NAME OR COMPANY], collects, uses, and protects your information when you use clarityadhd.app (the "Service"). We aim to collect only what we need to run and improve Clarity.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: email address, name, and the password used to sign in.
- Learning profile: grade level, subjects of interest, self-assessed confidence, study-time preference, chosen avatar/username, and language preference.
- Content you create: answers, diagnostics, stories and playground work, notes, and messages to the AI tutor. If you use the companion pet, your diary entries and companion memory are stored encrypted.
Information generated by using the Service
- Learning data: lessons, roadmaps, topics, progress, achievements, streaks, and improvement areas generated for you.
- Usage & metering: AI feature usage, "Sparks" balances and transactions, and related timestamps, used to operate limits and billing.
- Technical data: basic device/browser information and, if you enable them, push-notification subscription details.
Payment information
When you subscribe or buy Spark packs, payment is processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. We do not receive or store your full card details. Paddle processes your payment data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy; we receive transaction and subscription status information (e.g. plan, renewal date).
2. How we use your information
- to provide, personalize, and improve the Service and your learning experience;
- to generate lessons, tutoring, and other AI content tailored to your profile;
- to operate subscriptions, Sparks metering, usage limits, and fraud/abuse prevention;
- to send you service and (if enabled) push notifications;
- to maintain security and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private learning content to show you third-party advertising.
3. AI processing
To generate lessons, tutoring, and other content, relevant parts of your prompts and learning profile are sent to AI model providers through our AI gateway (OpenRouter) and the underlying model providers (which may include Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI). We send only what is needed to produce your content. We do not permit these providers to use your content to train their models where an opt-out is available to us.
4. Service providers we share data with
We share information with trusted providers who process it on our behalf to run the Service:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and hosting of your data.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
- Paddle — payments, subscriptions, and tax (merchant of record).
- OpenRouter and AI model providers — generating AI content.
- Upstash — rate limiting.
- DeepL — optional translation of content.
- Book data providers (e.g. Google Books, Open Library, Hardcover, NYT Books) — used by the Reading Lab. These receive search queries, not your account data.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the Service.
5. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (e.g. transaction records) to meet legal obligations.
7. Security
We protect your data with measures including encryption in transit, database row-level access controls so users can only access their own records, and additional encryption for sensitive content such as companion-pet diary entries. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit much of your profile in the app, and you can request account deletion or exercise other rights by contacting us at support@clarityadhd.app. For payment-related data, you may also contact Paddle.
9. Children & minors
Clarity is intended for learners aged 13 and older. Users under the age of majority should use the Service with a parent or guardian's consent and supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
